A wounded white woman, Brenda Martin, made irruption in a hospital. There, she declares her car was stolen whereas her 4 years old son is still in the car. As the offence proceeded in the black district of this city of the New Jersey, is the detective Lorenzo Council who is in charge of the investigation. He is the only one to perfectly know all the people of the district, and thus the only one to be able to find the robber and, by this way, to find the child. But the important police device, combined with the mediatisation of the story, will make rise the racial tension. Although the end of this film is foreseeable, we let us take as much to the intrigue and the headlights topics (maternity and racial discrimination) that to the performance of the actors…

Une femme blanche couverte de sang, Brenda Martin, fait irruption dans un hôpital. Là elle déclare qu’on lui a volé sa voiture et que son fils de 4 ans s’y trouve encore. Comme le délit s’est déroulé dans le quartier noir de cette ville du New Jersey, s’est le détective Lorenzo Council qui est chargé de l’enquête. Il est le seul à connaître parfaitement tous les gens du quartier, et donc le seul susceptible de trouver le voleur et, par là-même, retrouver l’enfant. Mais l’important dispositif policier, allié à la médiatisation de l’affaire, va faire monter la tension raciale. Bien que la conclusion de ce film soit plus ou moins prévisible, on se laisse prendre tout autant à l’intrigue et aux thèmes phares (la maternité et la discrimination raciale) qu’au jeu des acteurs…

Una mujer blanca herida, Brenda Martin, hace irrupción en un hospital. Allí declara que se le robó su coche en cual su hijo de 4 años se encuentra aún. Como el delito se desarrolló en el barrio negro de esta ciudad de New Jersey, el detective Lorenzo Council se encarga de la investigación. Es el único en conocer perfectamente a toda la gente del barrio y, en consecuencia, el único en poder encotnrar al ladrón así como al niño. Pero el importante dispositivo policial, aliado a la mediatización de la historia, va agravar la tensión racial. Aunque la conclusión de esta película sea más o menos previsible, nos dejamos tomar tanto a la intriga y a los temas principales (la maternidad y la discriminación racial) como al juego de los protagonistas…
