Possessions – Eric Guirado

Maryline et Bruno Caron arrivent dans un village de montagne pour emménager dans un chalet qu’ils ont loué à Patrick Castang. Ce dernier s’avère être un influent propriétaire et promoteur immobilier dans la région. Contents de quitter le nord de la France pour cette destination de rêve, ils acceptent sans sourciller les déménagements successifs que leur impose Castang. Cette situation couplée à l’apparente charité du promoteur et de sa femme, va laisser aux Caron le sentiment d’être traités sans aucune considération. Les relations entre les deux familles vont se dégrader peu à peu, Bruno et Maryline ne supportant plus d’avoir sous les yeux le bonheur et l’abondance des biens de Castang. Ainsi l’amertume, alimentée par la jalousie, l’envie et la frustration va les conduire à la haine. Inspiré d’un fait divers récent ce film, réalisé par Eric Guirado, ne plaide à charge ni pour les uns ni pour les autres. Sans cautionner le dramatique final de cette histoire, Possessions (notez l’importance du pluriel) décortique la psychologie de chaque personnage afin de mettre en relief les évènements, au demeurant anodins, qui animent les personnages vers tel ou tel acte…

Maryline and Bruno Caron arrive in a mountain village to move on a country cottage rented to Patrick Castang. This last is an influent owner and property developer in the area. Glad To leave the north of France for this destination they accept all the successive removals that Castang imposes to them. This situation, coupled with the charity of the promoter and his wife, let to the Charon the feeling to be treated without any consideration. The relations between both families will be degraded with the time, Bruno and Maryline not supporting anymore to have under the eyes the happiness and the abundance of the Castang. Thus bitterness, supplied with jealousy, desire and frustration, will lead them to hatred. Inspired by a recent true story, this film, directed by Eric Guirado, pleads neither for the ones nor the others. Without guaranteeing the dramatic final of the story, Possesions (note the importance of plural) peels the psychology of each character in order to highlight the events, moreover not really important, which animate the characters towards such or such act…

Este último es un influyente proprietario y promotor inmobiliario de la región. Felices de dejar el norte de Francia para este destino de sueño, aceptan todos los traslados sucesivos que les impone Castang. Esta situación acoplada al aparente caridad del promotor y de su esposa, va a dejar los Caron con el sentimiento de que les traten sin ninguna consideración. Poco a poco las relaciones entre las dos familias van a deteriorarse, Bruno y Maryline no soportando ya de tener bajo los ojos la felicidad y la abundancia de los bienes de Castang. Así amargua, abastecida por el celos, la envidia y la frustración va conducirlos al odio. Inspirado de una historia real reciente, esta película de Eric Guirado, no aboga a cargo no los unos ni los otros. Sin garantizar el final de la historia, Possessions (hay que tener en cuenta el plural) descascarilla la psicología de cada personaje con el fin de poner de relieve los acontecimentos, anodinos, que animan a los personajes hacia tal o tal acto…
